The 90s called and want their picture back: Meta boss Zuckerberg has released a recording of his “Metaverse.” There is evil on the net.
At the beginning of his 3D world “Horizon Worlds” in France and Spain, Mark Zuckerberg published a section of images that does not fit at all with what he wants to sell with it: the next level of the Internet or Web 3.0.
The photo shows his avatar in a barren landscape in front of a virtual version of the Eiffel Tower and the Sagrat Cor church. Zuckerberg writes, “I’m excited to see people discover and build immersive worlds.” The image looks like a graphic from a 1998 computer game.
And precisely here lies the problem. The Facebook group has invested around 10 billion US dollars in the development of its “Metaverse”. The company has also been renamed Meta to show how important the project is to Mark Zuckerberg’s company.
Zuckerberg’s image caused ridicule and outrage on social media. The virtual world “Second Life” released in 2003 or the social gaming platform “Playstation Home” left a better graphic impression, they say.
