When it comes to features, XMG hasn’t skimped on anything. The gaming laptop comes with 32 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a 1 TB SSD connected to the fast M.2 port. The SSD ensures that you have enough storage space for your files, application software, and game library. While the large memory allows you to have many applications and multiple browser tabs open at the same time without affecting system performance.
To integrate the XMG NEO into your home network, use WiFi 6 (802.11ax standard) for a wireless connection, or alternatively use the RJ45 plug (2.5 gigabit LAN port) on the back for a wired connection. Other wireless devices such as headphones, mice or keyboards can be paired with the laptop thanks to Bluetooth 5.2.
Additionally, the gaming laptop has one USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen 2) port with DisplayPort 1.4 function but no power delivery option, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen 1) ports, and one USB Type-A 3.2 ( Gen 2) Port. This caused some problems in our test: it regularly stopped streaming and only reached a maximum data rate of 100 to 200 Mbits per second. This rate is about the same as a slow Gen 1 port. We assume that this issue only occurs with our test device or can be fixed with an update.
An HDMI 2.1 connection is available as an alternative to the DisplayPort feature, so you can connect a projector, TV, or gaming monitor to the laptop. The NEO also has a 3.5mm headphone and microphone jack connection.
Like most laptop models, the XMG NEO 15 also has a webcam for video conferencing or streaming. This resolves to HD (1280 x 720 pixels), but cannot be disabled on the hardware side. Also available is the noise-canceling microphone, a must-have for video conferencing and streaming.
The stereo sound system mainly emphasizes the highs, the mids and lows are hardly noticeable, so listening to music is only a limited pleasure. However, the laptop is THX Spatial Audio certified for gaming headsets and can therefore play surround sound.
An SDXC card reader is available for photographers and videographers. However, the model does not have a fingerprint sensor, but this is not significant.
