Xbox Cloud Gaming: Microsoft optimizes the app for ARM devices

Date:

Anyone using Windows on an ARM device and wanting to access the Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming service previously relied on an unoptimized x86 application. Now the Redmond company has provided a native app for computers with ARM processors.

According to the Xbox Wire entry, the latest version of the Xbox app for Windows PC supports ARM64. The app has been updated, so the game streaming service should now work better on newer Surface models as well. Since previously only the x86 version was emulated, significantly longer response times were expected. When paired with 5G devices like the equivalent Surface Pro 9, Xbox cloud gaming should work without significant lag.

With the update, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate users now have the ability to stream hundreds of games from the cloud to Android smartphones, iOS devices, Android TV, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, handheld consoles like Logitech G Cloud, Chromebooks and multiple types of Windows computers. All you have to do is open the Xbox app or visit the service’s website.

Microsoft partners with Meta

A few days ago it was announced that Microsoft is cooperating with Meta and wants to offer a full range of important products in Metaverse. In addition to Teams, Office, and Windows, Xbox Cloud Gaming can also be used in combination with Meta’s Quest VR headset. Anyone who subscribes to the Ultimate version of Game Pass should be able to stream the games in the meta environment.

In addition, for a few days it has been possible to launch a game available in the cloud directly from a Bing search and launch it in the browser. To do this, the search engine displays a button as soon as the corresponding game is searched for. The feature should not only work with Edge, but also with Chromium browsers.
