GOAT is coming to Lambeau Field on Sunday.
Tom Brady, a runaway leader in playoffs (32), conference championships (14) and Super Bowl (9), takes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Green Bay for the NFC Championship.
And this is for sure. If the 1st seed packers (14-3) kill Brady and the 5th seed Buccaneers (13-5), the Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers should be dramatically better than ever. Conference title game.
Rogers participates in four NFC Championship games. And the main reason Green Bay is 1-3 in these contests is Rogers’ sub-par play.
Rogers has a pedestrian quarterback rating of 78.0 in these games. It deviates significantly from his career mark of 103.9.
Rogers threw more intercepts (7 times) than touchdowns (6 times) in the NFC Championship Game. This is amazing statistics given that he threw 412 career touchdown passes, only 89 intercepts, and a 4.6: 1 ratio.
This shows how Rogers performed in the conference title game.
2010 NFC Championship
Green Bay 21, Chicago 14
Rogers wasn’t keen on Green Bay’s victory in Chicago more than a decade ago.
Rogers threw two intercepts without a touchdown and finished with a passer rating of just 55.4.
The Rogers rushed down early to help the Packers lead 14-0, but competed with the NFL’s 9th-place defense for most of the day.
“I can play much better (against Chicago) than I did, I’m sure,” Rogers said that night. “You need to give credit to Chicago’s defense. They had a good plan for us, but I didn’t throw the ball as much as I expected.”
2014 NFC Championship
Seattle 28, Green Bay 22 (OT)
Rogers struggled with a calf injury against the NFL’s No. 1 defense. Rogers finished with two intercepts, one touchdown and 55.8 passer ratings.
It marked his second disappointed personal performance in the NFC Championship Game.
Green Bay dominated the game virtually, leading 16-0 in half-time and 19-7 with just over three minutes remaining. However, the Seahawks rebounded to win overtime. This is partly because Rogers and offenses did not have access to some early opportunities.
“I missed the opportunity to think about my future career,” Rogers said. “We were a better team … and we played enough to win, and we can’t blame anyone but ourselves.”
2016 NFC Championship
Atlanta 44, Green Bay 21
The Rogers were completely defeated by Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan, and host Falcons rolled over the Packers.
On paper, Rogers’ final numbers look fine. He completed 60.0% of the 45 passes with 287 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 interception and 91.6 passer ratings.
However, most of these statistics were edited after the results were determined. Atlanta led 24-0 in halftime and 31-0 in the third quarter before Rogers began to strengthen his number.
Meanwhile, Ryan finished with a passer rating of 139.4, the second highest in history, in a quarterback against Green Bay in a playoff game. Ryan completed 27 out of 38 passes (71.1%) at 392 yards, threw four touchdowns and had no pass cuts.
“We had to keep pace with those guys,” said Packers coach Mike McCarthy that night. “I was convinced that I could earn points when I came here.
“We were late. Especially at this stadium, we participated in a game you didn’t want to play. There were a lot of problems.”
2019 NFC Championship
San Francisco 37, Green Bay 20
In the first half alone, Rogers threw a passcut, fumbled twice, lost one, and posted a very small passer rating of 52.1.
The Rogers Miscue herd played a major role in cruising for an easy victory, building a 27-0 half-time lead in San Francisco.
Similar to the 2016 Atlanta match, Rogers piled up some stats late, ending with two touchdown passes, two intercepts and a 326-yard pass. But when Rogers was MIA, the game was decided in the first half
“Knowing how difficult it is to get to this place is definitely a bit more painful than early in the career,” Rogers said after the Forty-niners were defeated. “It feels a little more disappointing because it felt almost intended. Then you realize that I don’t have the same number of years in front of me as I’m behind me, so it’s a little more disappointing. is.”
Surprisingly, Rogers and Packers are back in the NFC title game for the first time in 11 years. Few predicted that Green Bay would reach this point again after losing to San Francisco last year and after a non-stimulating off-season.
However, Rogers is one of the best seasons of his career and is a strong candidate to win his third MVP award. Green Bay’s defense has been at a high level since mid-November.
And Packers head coach Matt LaFleur keeps pressing all the right buttons and currently has a career record of 28-7 (including postseason).
But if the Packers knock off GOAT and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rogers should be dramatically better than any previous trip to the NFC Championship Game.
Whether Rogers delivers or not will be a fascinating viewing on Sunday.
