They tell you something important that you shouldn’t forget or you have to write something fast. Instead of writing it down in a note or emailing it to yourself, now there’s a more convenient way. And WhatsApp offers you that from now on, although it is not new.
Note to self: It’s easy to do these days.
Already in early November, the first reports came that WhatsApp is testing a new feature that is only useful for you as a user. It’s not new and the top dog looks at the competition. Because the ability to send messages to yourself has been around for a long time with Telegram, for example.
This feature is now available to all WhatsApp users. However, it may take a little longer for the update to reach all smartphones. You can send each other not only text messages, but also photos and videos. Even YouTube videos or articles you find online can be easily sent using the new chat feature. You always have access to your personal chat, so you can always read these things at a later time, including a reminder feature.
The new feature can also be used as a journal. If you want to use the journal feature regularly, you can simply add the chat to your home screen. We’ll show you how in this guide.
How to use the new feature of WhatsApp
No rocket science is required to use the feature. On the contrary: WhatsApp keeps the operation simple. The following steps will take you directly to chat with yourself:
- Unlock your phone and open WhatsApp
- Go to “Create a new chat”
- Your contacts will then open, under which you will also find your own number at the top of the list
- Choose your number and write yourself a note
The new feature is already rolling out to all users via an update. It is available for both Android and iOS users.
