By dint of seeing that the Apple TV application reaches more and more platforms, keep in mind, even the Chromecast i will have it soon -, we have the right to wonder about the future of Apple TV in the form of a small box. Is it still interesting when you can view your iTunes purchases (and even make new ones on some devices), enjoy AirPlay, launch Apple TV +, and sometimes even take advantage of HomeKit on your? TV, to game console or in a hdmi dongle that costs three times nothing?
Apple TV still has undeniable advantages (unparalleled integration into the Apple ecosystem, regular updates, etc.), but the dispersion of services – and of the “experience” – Apple on other platforms raises more besides the question of their relevance.
This question has been asked for several years in Cupertino. There would have been Apple TV projects acting as an AirPort terminal and D ‘Chromecast in Apple TV format, but none were successful. Now that the Apple TV app is destined to be available everywhere, it might be time to differentiate the set-top box by giving it a new direction.
What future do you expect for Apple TV?
