Nothing continues to run on the operating system of your smartphone, the Nothing phone (1). I have that already subjected to a detailed test report and it has become one of my favorite Android smartphones currently. With Android 13, this will unfortunately take a while, but at least there are new improvements and some features with each update. This is also the case with the Nothing OS version 1.1.4 update. Of course, some bug fixes and stability improvements have also been integrated. And: The current September Android security patch is also part of the game.
New and really late, if one writes such a big “ecosystem” on the flag – an improved integration of TWS headphones. the Nothing ear (1) are the company’s first headphonesmost probably should in the not too distant future with the Nothing ear (1) Stick follow. It is possible that the now supported LHDC codec will cast its shadow in the update.
Until now Nothing has relied on an app to control the headphones, at least on the internal smartphone, ANC modes and all other options are controlled directly in the OS. If you have installed the ear(1) application, it will disappear. The tile for connected devices gives you shortcuts to Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes. All app options are integrated into the Bluetooth settings.
If you’re one of those people who prefer 3-button navigation to gestures, you now have the option to reverse the order of these. New innovations are once again bestowed on the camera. A special watermark with the company logo has been integrated, which probably nobody (in this country) will use. In addition, they are working on another point of criticism that I also expressed at the time: the color consistency and the calibration between the ultra wide angle camera and the main camera. They’ve also improved a motion detection algorithm that comes into play when shooting moving objects. And for HDR shots from the ultra-wide camera, shutter speeds have been improved.
Nada also deservingly provides more details in its changelog. Battery consumption has been improved, both in general and for the always-on screen. The face unlock algorithm has also been improved. Bug fixes include network issues with some network operators. Fixed another issue that incorrectly declared incoming calls as “unknown”.
As usual, Nothing OS 1.1.4 will only be released in batches. It has already arrived here, but it may take a few more days to arrive. Please let us know in the comments how satisfied you are as a Nothing user with the current update and the improvements and advancements made by the manufacturer.
