Twitch banned well-known streamer Dr Disrespect, aka Dude Beahm, on Friday. The disciplinary motion is noteworthy not just because of the streamer’s reputation — Dr Disrespect’s Twitch channel boasts far more than 4 million followers — but thanks to Beahm’s unique arrangement with the streaming platform.
The rationale for Dr Disrespect’s ban is unclear. Arrived at for comment, a Twitch representative did not specify what led to disciplinary action or clarify the duration of the ban, and rather available the pursuing statement:
As is our course of action, we consider appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Tips or Phrases of Company. These utilize to all streamers no matter of status or prominence in the community.
Beahm has not publicly addressed his ban on his Dr Disrespect Twitter account or YouTube channel, in which he has 1.5 million and 1.6 million followers, respectively.
Beahm’s channel was banned beforehand in 2019, when the streamer entered a rest room at the Los Angeles Convention Heart, which was web hosting E3, and streamed movie footage of the incident to Twitch. The timing of Dr Disrespect’s second ban arrives amid a collection of higher-profile bans of streamers accused of sexual harassment and abuse, while there is no evidence to recommend that Beahm’s ban is connected to Twitch’s latest crackdown.
