This Nintendo GameCube actually hides a gaming PC

Date:

A handyman emptied a Gamecube and replaced its components with those of a gaming PC. Inside, you’ll find a GeForce GTX 1650, 16GB of RAM, and a 2TB SSD. Some adaptations have been made at the rear to add some connections at the rear. And a little brushstroke on the shell to give it an amazing look. Presentations.

I don’t know about you, but about me Mommy Gamecube sleeps peacefully next to my Wii and my Nintendo 64 In a box in my basement The reason ? My games work just as well on this old console as they do on my emulator. In fact, I indulge in Baten Kaitos, Eternal Arcadia, Tales of Symphonia, and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance (yes, I’m a monomaniac) on my PC (in case I don’t on a hypothetical Gamecube Mini that doesn’t arrive). Exactly like all my games on PlayStation 1/2, Saturn, or Dreamcast for that matter.

What to do with an old console like the Gamecube in 2021? A Reddit user had the great idea of turn console into PC to play. Simply. He opened the machine. He removed all the components. And he installed all the components of a computer capable of running games. Of course, the setup is not capable of running Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K @ 120 FPS (at least not locally).

A gaming PC with Gamecube design

What is this setup made of? First of all, a motherboard signed by Asus from a mini-PC. A processor is installed on this card Ryzen 5 4500U from AMD. It’s not that bad. We also find there 16 Go of RAM in DDR4 format, as well as 2A Samsung SSD. This is perfect to give the whole a boost. And for the graphics part, nothing like a small GeForce. Here is a GTX 1650.

Since the console is equipped with controller ports, the maintenance staff installed a controller card to take advantage of them. On the back, some tweaks have been made to make some ports apparent: USB 3.0 type A, Ethernet, DVI, HDMI, USB type C. The optical drive has been replaced by a fan (but the cover is still present). And to complete the whole a small painting “Sakura” has been applied. Here is a very nice machine that will be perfect for gaming … and retro gaming!
