Editor’s Note: Every week, staff favorites provide insights into what Colorado must offer for dining, shopping, entertainment, outdoor activities and more. (We’ll also talk about some hidden gems, in this case virtual gems.)
Like many people during this pandemic, the flat screen has become my window in the world. Fortunately, I’m also a gamer and have access to experiences that aren’t tied to a physical location, such as a virtual expansion in Colorado. It may sound awkward, but Horizon: Zero Dawn, Wastelands 3, Forza Horizon And Red Dead Redemption Helped to scratch this denberite itch for fresh, non-urban air.
Relation: Apocalypse here: Why Colorado is a popular place for the destruction of mankind
Having a sequel to the PlayStation 5, Horizon: Zero Dawn (Horizon: Forbidden West, released later this year) is one of the best of the PS4 generation and is now called the Empowerfield at Mile High. It features 3D, almost explorable versions of what has been, plus Red Rocks, scenic stops in various highlands, and other front-range landmarks.
Forza or Need for Speed: The Run’s Road Warrior Experience, Madden NFL’s Virtual Broncos Season, and classic series of virtual snow sports such as SSX, Amped, and Steep. The latter often features Colorado runs, some of which can be replayed through streaming services such as PlayStation Now and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
