Samsung has officially unveiled the Exynos W920 5nm SoC. It’s at the heart of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic smartwatches, which will be unveiled in full tomorrow during the big Unpacked event. Meanwhile, you can evaluate the parameters of the Exynos W920.
The platform has become much faster than its Exynos 9110 predecessor. Therefore, the performance of the central processor has increased by 20%, and the graphics – by 10 times! The Exynos W920 uses a combination of an Arm Cortex-A55 CPU and an Arm Mali-G68 GPU.
Exynos W920 supports multi-resolution displays up to qHD (960 x 540 pixels), has an ultra-low power consumption Cortex-M55 core, providing the always-on display function. The platform is also compatible with GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and the Wear OS software platform, it is equipped with an LTE modem, Wi-Fi b / g / n and Bluetooth 5.0 adapters. For the Exynos W920, Fan Panel Level Packaging (FO-PLP) is used – not only the SoC and power controller are assembled, but also the LPDDR4 RAM and eMMC chip. This approach allows you to save space inside the smartwatch case and install larger batteries.
