1. Listen to voice messages before sending them
All Whatsapp users know them, but not everyone likes them: voice messages. If you don’t have time or are just lazy to write long texts, you can start and send a sound recording. What many people don’t know is that you can of course listen to this message again before you send it.

To do this, you need to tap and hold on the microphone icon next to the input field and swipe up. If you then lift your finger, the voice message is recorded. If you touch the stop button, the recording ends and you can play it and listen to it yourself with the play symbol. When you’re done, you have two options: send or delete.

If you leave the chat at this point, the message will be saved but not sent. This can be done the next time the chat is opened.

2. How to hide specific chats
If you don’t want a certain chat to remain open in your chat history, you can archive it. To do this, you need to keep your finger pressed on the conversation in the list until the menu with the “Archive” option appears. The chat will disappear from the list. But don’t worry, it’s not gone. To find it again, you just need to swipe down on the chat list, then the “Archived” item will appear again, and below you will find the hidden chat.

3. Message yourself
To create a chat with yourself that is useful to you use as notebook can, you need to set it once in two steps. To do this, you use your smartphone’s Internet browser. There you write the address “wa.me/” along with your own cell phone number. The number must be provided in international format, for example start with 49 for Germany. It goes something like this: “wa.me/491711234567”. Once you have done that, a page will open. In this click on the button “continue with the chat”. Now Whatsapp opens on the cell phone, and the chat with yourself can be seen and used there.

4. Secretly leaving a group
Everyone knows them: annoying WhatsApp groups, the ones you were simply added to without being asked, and the ones you would like to leave quietly and secretly. But if you just leave it, all party members will see it in chat. If you want to avoid this, you can use a trick: you have to open the group chat and touch the name of the group at the top of the screen. Then fully wipe down and tap on “Leave Group”. If you tap “Leave” again, only the group admin will receive a notification that you’ve left.

If you want to wish several users “Merry Christmas” at the same time or if you want to tell them your new mobile number, you can do it through the so-called broadcast lists. To do this, you need to click on the three dots at the top right on Android phones and select “New stream”. On the iPhone, the term “Broadcast” is now available on the left above the chat list.
