On Thursday, April 7, 2022, Ford supported the SOS Children’s Villages “Cup of Villages” fundraiser with the barrier-free Gaming Transit. The so-called “Vanzilla” is a barrier-free vehicle with inclusive gaming technology. Donations collected during the live stream on Twitch will go to SOS Children’s Villages in Ukraine and neighboring countries, which have taken in refugee children and families.
Angelo Bülow, brand ambassador for Team Fordzilla, Ford’s esports team, moderated the virtual gaming event alongside gamer Lisa Weskamp, aka “Lunarie.” On his Twitch channel @aSmoogl, viewers could watch the live broadcast with an exciting mix of information and entertainment and also make a donation to SOS Children’s Villages yourself.
“We are very pleased to have been able to win Ford as a sponsor for our fundraising event. We are excited about the gaming vehicle and the associated commitment to greater inclusion, an important topic that is also very important to us at SOS Children’s Villages. around the world. .” says Lara Prölß from SOS Children’s Villages worldwide.
During the live stream, well-known gaming influencers competed against each other on the virtual FIFA21 arena and in exciting studio games. During the halftime break, Angelo Bülow presented the Ford Gaming Transit and answered all questions about the inclusive gaming vehicle.
After a successful Ford Gaming Transit road trip last summer, the vehicle was once again able to make the hearts of those interested in gaming at the “Peoples Cup” beat faster. The staff of the mosaic workshop for the disabled in Berlin also participated in the event. Ford enables an inclusive gaming experience with wheelchair lifts and adaptive gaming controllers that can be tailored to the individual needs of gamers with mobility issues.
“The topic of inclusion is very important to me and to the entire Fordzilla team. I am very happy that we are supporting the important work of SOS Children’s Villages with our ‘Vanzilla’ on the live stream and that we are putting a smile on the faces of children and people with physical disabilities and bring the fascinating world of gaming a little closer,” says Angelo Bülow, brand ambassador for Team Fordzilla.
Accessible vehicle with inclusive gaming technology
Ford developed the so-called gaming transit to offer people with reduced mobility an accessible and exciting gaming experience. The eye-catching gaming Transit design includes styling cues from vehicle supplier MS-RT, which already produces sporty versions of the Ford Transit Custom and Connect models, as well as the distinctive Ranger MS-RT pickup.
The game transit is designed to be easily accessible to all participating players. To do this, body builder Allied Mobility installed a wheelchair lift and folding ramp to make getting in and out easier. At the same time, adaptive game controllers can be configured to meet the unique needs of gamers with mobility issues.
Gaming Transit is divided into three gaming areas: an event area and two racing game platforms with steering wheels, pedals, racing seats and dual screens.
