With the new generation of consoles, the cost of games is increasing.
Jim Ryan, head of PlayStation, said the PS5 game justifies the £ 70 price tag given.
In an interview with the telegramSony executives said they were forced to feel that this was a fair price for games on brand new hardware and offered as much entertainment as any other media.
“Yes, yes, yes [think £70 is a fair price]”Ryan said.
“If you measure the amount of entertainment provided by video games such as Demon’s Souls compared to other forms of entertainment, I think it’s very easy to compare.”
Ryan was also asked if the price of the game from Sony’s first-party lineup would be higher. This is what PlayStation executives called “resolutely wrong,” but didn’t say if Naughty Dog’s next PS5 title would cost £ 70.
“I have no predictions about something that may or may not happen in the future,” he said.
“The report on the argument that we considered raising the price of first-party games in this launch window was clearly wrong.”
There are also reports that Microsoft is trying to raise the price of its first-party lineup...
The PlayStation 5 was released in some parts of the world on November 12, and Sony machines appeared in other parts later this week on November 19. Here’s everything you need to know about the new console..
