The state government is again promoting esports in Schleswig-Holstein this year. This stems from a current press release on the Schleswig-Holstein state portal. The E-Sports Association Schleswig-Holstein (EVSH) plans to establish four more regional E-Sports centers. For this, it has the support of the State digitization funds with 250,000 euros. In addition, the state parliament had decided to directly support the state association EVSH for the first time with 71,600 euros.
The Secretary of State for the Interior, Kristina Herbst, today (March 14) delivered the funding notifications to the EVSH board members at the regional esports center in Flensburg:
“E-sports are part of everyday life for many young people. The state of Schleswig-Holstein accompanies children and young people on their way to the digital world by financing numerous projects. In addition to the opening of the ‘State Center for Electronic Sports and Digitization’ in Kiel, we have already supported more than forty individual projects.”
Since 2019, a total of €1.05 million has been channeled to clubs and associations in the fields of sport, youth association work and esports for projects. State support for regional centers is an important component in building a functioning infrastructure.
Kristina Herbst further emphasizes:
“With the regional e-sports centers, improved framework conditions are established, such as technical infrastructure for competitions and for the promotion of young people and high-performance areas. Co-working spaces, mobile PCs and airtimes for clubs, schools and youth groups are also possible. With the locations in Heide and Husum we close gaps on the west coast, in Mölln in the southeast of the country. And at Ostholstein we want to give clubs that have already established esports departments a foundation where they can train youngsters even better.”
With the first funding from the state association, the EVSH can, among other things, improve the training of trainers and move to a small office. Performance-oriented esports also receive targeted support in cooperation with the eSports Players Foundation (EPF) and EDEKA-Nord.
A further €120,000 in funding for clubs and associations in the field of leisure and popular sports will be made available in 2022 for the further development of a municipal e-sports infrastructure.
Jana Possible, second deputy The president of the E-Sports Association Schleswig-Holstein emphasizes in a related statement:
“As a state association for esports, today we receive strong additional support from the state of Schleswig-Holstein. With state funding of more than 320,000 euros, as a state association we have succeeded in spreading e-sports through four new regional e-sports centers. -sports and three types of state championships, to set up an SH e-sports team for the first time to promote young people and one within the association to set up an office”.
