At the center of the confrontation is what has now become an emergency: the partial disablement of the stands of the Polisportivo stadium, which is the team’s main venue for league matches.

The buffer solution continues to be to proceed with the installation of mobile stands and at this time the municipal offices are collecting budgets and availability, to be able to receive the fans from the first official match of the championship. On September 12 there is the Cup that will finally be played at the Zugni Tauro de Feltre and on the 19th the championship begins, but the schedules are still missing.

“I found a really high level of collaboration in the management of the company and that caught my attention,” emphasizes Mayor Jacopo Massaro. “The tones were totally collaborative and we all have the same intention and ultimate goal: to have a high-level team playing at Belluno.”

The administration illustrated to the Belluno Dolomites the total safety and rehabilitation project of the Polisportivo stadium: a 3.7 million euro plan that the City Council hopes to obtain from the Call for Urban Regeneration. The ranking is scheduled for the beginning of autumn, after which (in case of a positive result) it will be necessary to proceed with the final and executive design and then with the works, which will not be short, but the company was ready. move during the ‘intervention. What was not known is that the situation in the stands was so serious.

Massaro underlines how the news fell on the head of the municipal administration suddenly: “The offices and councilors of urban planning, Franco Frison, and the sports facilities, Marco Bogo, must be recognized for having managed to invent a project in it in a very short time . and present it to participate in the financing of the Call. I am confident of the success, which should be known at the end of September. Now it is a question of managing the transition period and the installation of mobile stands is the only solution “.

But how do we come to discover the bleachers problem right now? There has not been a jump in the team category, nor have more restrictive rules been intervened, so the structure of the Polisportivo that will have to host the Dolomiti Bellunesi is the same where Belluno played until a few months ago.

“Static controls have a ten-year expiration date,” Massaro explains, “and seismic vulnerability analyzes of public buildings are mandatory since 2003. This administration has been conducting controls on all structures since the beginning and I remember that we have 150 buildings. and 100 bridges. Obviously we couldn’t do everything at the same time and we gave priority to schools and then gradually to everything else.

Massaro and Commissioner Bogo do not say so explicitly, but it is clear that controls of this type, in the past, have not been particularly strict.

“The report on the result of the controlli at the Polisportivo “, adds Bogo,” was a hard blow, also because the stadium is part of the Civil Protection plan as a reception area. The problem affects both stands, with a maximum load of one person every two square meters, but with different characteristics. In each grandstand, therefore, a maximum of 150 people can be accommodated, 300 in the whole stadium and there are really very few ».

The main bleachers (west side) were built in 1955 with some major structural defects. The guest stands, on the other hand, are more recent and built in two phases. Here the problem is only related to the stands, while the rear coverage is not a cause for concern. “The intention is to remake the entire stadium,” explains Bogo, “because now it is obsolete.”
