aquamorphic design
OxygenOS 13 is based on the “Aquamorphic Design” dubbed by OnePlus, which the manufacturer calls “soothing, natural and versatile‘ as well as minimalist icons, animations, and a variety of shapes and textures. The design is characterized by rounded edges in all areas of the OS and adapts to outside light conditions throughout the day. Colors should be lighter in the morning and gradually darker throughout the day until sunset. Widgets on the home screen now reveal more details about a long wait and therefore the user no longer has to open them.
The operating system should be faster and more stable
OnePlus promises smoother and more stable operation, which should benefit from the “AI Booster System”. Various intelligent memory management systems should allow multiple applications to be stopped at the same time so that users can switch more quickly from one application to another. It remains to be seen whether the user will deliberately have problems with apps still running in the background.
New always-on display capabilities
The manufacturer is providing new designs for the always-on display (AOD) and has announced a cooperation with Spotify to make the streaming app’s playlists quickly accessible on AOD. In India alone, food deliveries from service providers Zomato and Swiggy can be tracked on OxygenOS 13 AOD.
Launcher turns folders into widgets
In addition to the new native widgets, the OS’s new smart launcher features widget-like folders on the home screen, which are already stored in the large open view and therefore do not need to be reopened to access. to the applications they contain. The folder then becomes a kind of widget with smaller application icons. Also new is the sidebar toolbox, which can be opened by sliding your finger along the edge of the screen and is designed for easy one-handed access to frequently used apps.
Spatial Audio, Quick Pairing, and Nearby Sharing
New features in OxygenOS 13 also include the HyperBoost Game Engine, which was already integrated in OxygenOS 12.1 for OnePlus 10T and is meant to ensure consistent high performance when gaming. Also being built into the operating system are Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, Google’s native Fast Pair, Audio Switch for seamless switching between headphones, Near Share, and streaming apps to Chrome OS devices.
OxygenOS 13 should also improve in the areas of data protection and security, such as warnings about dangerous apps and downloads or hiding location on public Wi-Fi hotspots. With Private Safe 2.0, data, documents and media files can be stored in a virtual safe that other applications cannot access.
