The open source video editor shot cut, a free, cross-platform video editing software that supports numerous audio and video formats, has been released in the latest version 22.09 for Windows, macOS, and Linux. New features include support for WebP as well as two additional video filters for projects.
Open source tool with numerous improvements
Three months after the release of the latest final version, Shotcut 22.06, the developers at Meltytech released the latest version 22.09 for download. Shotcut 22.09, which is still based on the Media Lovin’ Toolkit (“MLT”) and is open sourced at GNU GPLv3 is distributed according to release notes the following news:
Furthermore, it was also MPEGa free set of command-line audio and video editing tools for Windows, macOS, and Linux, is now updated and supported by the nonprofit Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia) specifies hardware acceleration from AV1 via open interface VDPAU.
New tools, filters and decoders/encoders
In addition to the universal tool, other decoders and encoders have also received an update with Shotcut 22.09.

- dav1d AV1 decoder updated v1.0
- AOM AV1 encoder updated to v3.4.0
- libvpx VP8/9 encoder updated to v1.12.0
- Glaxnimate updated to v0.5.1
- VMAF updated to v2.3.1
Shotcut 22.09 Updates
Also new in version 22.09 is the gopro2gpx utility that allows users to use Eigenschaften > GPX exportieren
export a corresponding GPX file from a GoPro video, as well as new “Fisheye”, “GPS Text” and “GPS Graphics” filters.
