In the test, the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max shows a very good display, superior performance, and long battery life. Apple has also equipped its new flagship with a 48-megapixel sensor for the main camera. The front camera also received a small update: an autofocus. So the already good iPhone selfies are even better.
Apple’s new A16 Bionic chipset ensures excellent performance which, together with six GB of RAM, is easily enough for all everyday apps and applications and of course all current triple AAA smartphone games with the graphics settings maximum.
Battery life, once again exceptional, is remarkable. The 4323 mAh battery easily lasts for several days, with daily use. However, extreme social media and video consumption, as well as intense gaming sessions, can shorten the runtime.
In a direct comparison, daylight photos taken with the main camera in “standard mode” are almost identical to those of the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Measurements in the lab also show no significant improvements in photo quality. The Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max again takes pictures with very balanced dynamics, as long as the differences in brightness are not too extreme. The new main camera shows its strengths especially in the ProRAW format.
The iPhone 14 Pro Max also features a redesigned notch. The small black bar that houses the front-facing camera and FaceID sensors has been moved a bit further onto the screen. Players, for example, can be controlled as a “dynamic island” or directions from Apple Maps are displayed. A clever idea and also quite practical in some cases, especially if you use music applications or navigation services.
