New World – EU server still offline; maintenance work is underway

Date:

The New World servers for Europe are not yet available. Source: Amazon Games

This message is hardly surprising anymore. In today’s New World Patchday, maintenance work on the servers in order to install the 1.0.2 update should take a total of five hours. The servers have been offline and can no longer be accessed since 12 noon. Therefore, this state should last until 5 pm

While this time period could roughly be fulfilled in many regions, the New Worlds of two regions remain inaccessible for an indefinite period of time. These regions are Central Europe and Western US Amazon Games Community Manager ‘Tosch’ comments on the servers not yet available on the official New World forum.

There he writes:

“To update:
We need to extend our maintenance to the West US and Central EU regions (currently without ETA). We apologize for any inconvenience. Other regions will come shortly.

Thank you for your patience!

PS: We will update this topic once we have additional information for the remaining regions. “

In a nutshell, you tell us in this statement that the two regions of the US – Central and Western Europe are the ones where New World maintenance work should be spread. Also, there is still no indication of how long Amazon Games will keep the servers offline. He does not give any other reason for this. All other regions should be available again shortly.

On behalf of those responsible, he apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the patience of the community. As soon as there is more information on the current status, you will find it in the official forum or alternatively in this post, which we will continue to update.

There is also an update on Twitter, highlighting the statement from the community manager:

/ Update: 6:08 pm: Western US is contactable – EU is still offline

Shortly after 6pm at night, there was another update from the community manager ‘Tosch’. Reports that the servers in the West US region are back online. Work on the servers in Central Europe is ongoing. This is the last region that is not yet available to play New World again.

If the issue is the same as before in the western US, it shouldn’t be long before we can log in again.

This is an ongoing problem. We are updating this post.

All information on the new patch 1.0.2 can be found here:

New World Server offline – that brings patch 1.0.2

Context information

Last week, Amazon Games temporarily shut down the New World servers in Europe on the day that patch 1.0.1 was installed. On October 6, the associated maintenance work should only have lasted, Amazon Games announced ahead of time, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. But at 4 p.m. we only knew it would take at least one more hour. But none of that came out either. The story ended with the end of the game and he only returned to the server around 7pm and was able to play. Seven full hours of maintenance, during the week, in the middle of the day and into the night.

New world: maintenance work lasts into the night

Now, one might have expected Amazon Games to learn from this misstep and adapt the planning for more patches. But far from that. Also this week, the patch and associated downtime arrived at 12 noon. Again, the scheduled time window could not be maintained. Unsurprisingly, community reactions are swift.

Players are frustrated, outraged, and angry. The times required are “a joke”, writes one user on Twitter, another shows understanding due to Amazon’s status as an “indie company with little infrastructure” – attention, irony! Others may even want to completely undo their purchase and return the set. Comments like this are accumulating and growing.

These issues could directly offset the actual rise in Steam ratings after the queues disappear …
