A new version of the system software for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles is being released worldwide today and brings with it several innovations, Sony reports in a current press release.
It is now possible to create and join open and closed chat groups on PS5 and PS4 consoles. The PS5 system software user interface has been improved in terms of the game base and trophy cards, and the PS5 also has accessibility options such as mono audio for headphones. The “Pro Tips” cards in the PS5 Control Center update console owners’ knowledge of useful features.
In the coming months, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) will be implemented for PS5. When using displays that support HDMI 2.1, VRR synchronizes the display’s refresh rate with the console’s graphical output. Previously released PS5 titles may be fully optimized for VRR via a game patch, and future games may already include VRR support at launch. Another option also allows you to apply VRR to unsupported games.
Commenting on the new Party feature, Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Platform Planning and Management, said:
“Starting tomorrow, we will gradually roll out the ability for PS app users to create or join open and closed parties from within the app as well. We’ve also updated the PS app’s Game Base UI to make it easier to access the Friends, Groups, and Messaging features. This allows for a consistent gaming experience with the PS5. PS Remote Play mobile app users can enjoy a new “dark mode” based on their smartphone settings and choose from new screen reader languages for iOS and Android, including Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Finnish, Swedish , Turkish, Greek, Thai and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified).”
