In the modding scene, there are regularly some crazy designs, so this example can also be described as exceptional: the modder Mangy_Dog has now presented his Star Trek-style gaming PC on YouTube.
The good piece is equipped with a special performance monitor that, among other things, is reminiscent of the panel design of spaceships within the Star Trek universe. The modder has baptized his work as “The Mainframe Compute Observator”. The result is impressive.
The components
A Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini case was used as the case. The modder has opted for an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card as a dedicated GPU and the AMD Ryzen 5900 X comes into play as a processor.
The display on the case is a 5-inch TFT display that is driven by a modified Arduino graphics controller.
Values such as processor temperature, performance, fan speed, and other hardware information are displayed on the add-on case screen when it is powered on.
Simplified 3D printing
Since the case was downloadable as a free 3D template, installation and mounting of the additional screen was no problem. Mangy_Dog claims that he came up with the idea while he was looking at a tricorder.
The design is very successful and in fact it reminds at first glance of the teams of the Star Trek universe. A great thing, especially for Trekkis.
