Mets invites the weekend series Phillies to Queens for the second straight win tonight. Yesterday, Mets conquered the Yankees series by winning additional innings. So, in six games with the Yankees this year, Mets won three comebacks and lost two extra innings. This time, Mets won 5 runs from 8 innings to 10, Pete Alonso.. The only thing I can say in 2020 is that the Mets defeated the Yankees twice this season with a walk-off home run, once in the Queens and once in the Bronx.
From a pitching perspective, Mets wasn’t good yesterday. Guselmann could only record 5 outs before he left. So Mets needed outings from Shreve, Familia, Castro, Wilson and Diaz. As Met continues to restrict the use of bull pens, three more reliable pitchers in the pen, Shreve, Familia and Diaz, have now cast two innings.
