Date:

The adaptation projects seem multiple in Microids. After formalizing Asterix and Obelix Baffez-les-Tous During the GA French Direct, here is the French publisher preparing the return of the little blue creatures. The Smurfs: Mission Malfeuille It was just announced for late 2021 on consoles, and it won’t be the only game in the license.

An adventure and platform game

It wasn’t a big secret: In May 2020, Microids announced a publishing contract with IMPS for the development of a The Smurfs video game. However, the collaboration now seems well advanced as the first details are falling off: The Smurfs: Mission Malfeuille will launch on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch and it will be available before the end of the year.

This project will be developed by the Lyon studio teams. OSome Studio, which we know from the latest titles Asterix and Obelix XXL, not always convincing. The Smurfs: Mission Malfeuille will take the form of a adventure / platformer game where the little creatures will have to face once again the terrible Gargamel and thwart his Machiavellian plans to save their village and the entire forest.

Five Smurf games in the works

Although we have no video and only visual, the press release tells us something else: The Smurfs: Mission Malfeuille will not be the only title adapted from the comic since Four more Smurfs video games are in the works..

Then we will have a total of five games that “It will be phased out over the next five years.” and that it will explore different genres. We still do not know what the exploited fields will be but we imagine that we could venture into games more focused on the platform, others that will be played in 2D or 3D. Anyway, what we know is that the distribution of all these titles will be ensured by France microid distribution, the new subsidiary of the publisher.

See you in late 2021 for the launch of The Smurfs: Mission Malfeuille on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Other adaptations in Microids are currently in the works, notably with Goldorak and Tintin, which could be discussed again soon.
