Microsoft, Google and Facebook target an NSO hacker group

Date:

NSO explains that these tools are used to fight criminals. However, the definition of this term is more truly up to your customers. According to Amnesty International, the technology developed by NSO would have made it possible to target journalists, lawyers but also nutritionists who wish to see the implementation of taxes on soft drinks.

Multinational support for Facebook comes days after the discovery of a new wave of piracy.

This week we learned that NSO had developed a malware called Kismet on behalf of the governments of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. According to security firm Citizen Labs, Kismet allowed intelligence agencies to infiltrate and monitor the iPhones of 27 journalists and dissidents.

In 2018, the group was allegedly indirectly involved in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi who worked for the Washington Post. In fact, NSO had infiltrated WhatsApp messages on behalf of the Saudi government.

Two years earlier, NSO hackers had engineered the Pegasus malware that also targeted Apple smartphones and made it possible to intercept calls, text messages, emails, and contacts.
