All Instagram is full of “drawings”. Blame it on the “Lensa” app, an AI image-generating app that is currently experiencing extreme hype. The app allows you to create “magical avatars,” which are artistic renderings of photos generated from 10 to 20 images taken by a user.
The Lensa app processes the imported images to create a series of avatars that appear to have been drawn by a real artist (at least in theory). Lensa also includes other photo editing tools, including the ability to change the background, remove objects, and remove blemishes from photos.
With the following instructions you will get your own set of magical avatars.
- Time to complete: 25 minutes

The AI generates numerous different styles such as pop art, fantasy, anime, and more. You can download and select the photos one by one by tapping on them, or you can select “Save all” on the top right.
Are Lensa avatars also free?
Unfortunately not. While the subscription offers a seven-day free trial for new users, you still need to pay a minimum of $2.59 for avatars.
To make sure you don’t pay more than you need to, it’s a good idea to cancel your free trial before you’re billed for a subscription.
To do this, tap the gear icon at the top left of the app, then select “Manage plan.” There you tap on “Lensa” and then you can cancel your subscription.
If you’re looking for a free alternative and don’t mind that it only uses a specific image and not multiple images, then Prisma is worth considering. You will be asked to pay, but you can simply ignore the prompts. This app is for iOS Y Android available.
