In 2019, Microsoft announced that 10 Final Fantasy video games will be available in the Xbox Game Pass library in 2020.
Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII: Remastered, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy XV were added to the subscription service all at once, while Final Fantasy X: HD Remastered, Final Fantasy X-2: HD Remastered, Final Fantasy XII : Zodiac Age, FINAL FANTASY XIII, FINAL FANTASY XIII 2, Lightning Returns: FINAL FANTASY XIII did not appear.
TA contacted Microsoft and asked about these additional statuses. Fortunately, for FINAL FANTASY fans, all six missing titles seem to be still in progress. They were simply late for some reason.
“As we announced at X019, we’re excited to use the Xbox Game Pass to bring the FINAL FANTASY series to gamers.” A Microsoft spokeswoman told TA.. “We’ve done that throughout 2020, and we’ll continue to do so after 2021. We look forward to announcing a specific release date for the FINAL FANTASY title in the future.”
