I recently spent at least an hour every day playing Hot Wheels with my four year old. It’s one of the games I love to play the most, so much so that last week I spent £ 50 and bought more tracks, a new car launcher and a booster that speeds it up.
I was struck by So Hot Wheels Unleashed, the newly announced Hot Wheel racing game.
None of this is actual game material, but it’s basically a Trackmania game, right? The cars go fast, they go round and round, and you can make your own tracks.
Perhaps more differently, those paths maximize real-world locations when toys are sold, so your wallpapers will be living room tables and floors. In this sense, it is more reminiscent of the old Micro Machine games. Most of them are developed by Codemasters and so on. Now it’s supposed to be owned by EA.
It was developed by Milestone Games, creators of other racing series like MotoGP and Ride. This gives me some hope that Hot Wheels Unleashed will be better than other licensed games, which were focused on mobile platforms, or were just poorly reviewed.
To update! I spent £ 60 on Hot Wheels last week. The game’s press release stated that the “Hot Wheels Singles Lineup” has been recognized as the best-selling game of 2020 worldwide. So I went to Amazon and bought it. I need more new cars, because a lot of the ones we have on eBay are a bit broken and my son won’t let me have the good cars when we play. I still miss our competitions and have taught him to do a really horrible, exhilarating dance if he wins.
Now I will take revenge. Hot Wheels Unleashed is scheduled for release on September 30.
