Earlier this month, unused marketing suggested that Google’s latest smart speakers would become the “home theater sound system” for Google TV streaming dongles. Google has confirmed that it is working on the integration of Nest Audio and Chromecast.
this revelation come from The Wall Street Journal HomePod Mini, Nest Audio, latest Amazon Echo review. Non-Nest products can be combined with Apple TV and Fire TV, respectively, for home theater setups.
Google WSJ “We are working on the integration of Nest Audio and Chromecast.” Today, there are no other details, but assistant speakers probably support setting it as the default output for your TV. It’s not clear if you can use more than stereo Nest Audio pairing, or if other Google speakers will work. It would certainly be a shame if Google Home Max hadn’t been updated with this feature.
Another question is whether Chromecast Ultra and older generation Chromecasts will be supported. This month’s marketing copy suggests that this will be the first to make its debut as a streamer on Google TV. On the other hand, the opening to other Chromecast-enabled Android TVs is noteworthy.
The last question is when the Nest Audio and Chromecast integration will arrive. If marketing was completed by September 30, the feature was supposed to be announced at Launch Night In, but was pulled in the last second.
