Your old free version of G Suite will no longer be available as of July 1, 2022. If you want to continue using associated services and accounts, you must upgrade to Google Workspace.
We originally launched the free legacy version of G Suite 16 years ago as a Google Apps for Business and Education offering. We retired this service in 2012 and are now moving all remaining users to a paid Google Workspace subscription. What it will be depends on the services you are currently using.
What does this mean for my organization?
In 2020, we launched Google Workspace, with more product options to better fit our customers’ needs. Google Workspace offers many new benefits in addition to the features you currently use, including more storage space, better security, and 24/7 support.
Upgrading to Google Workspace from your old free version of G Suite is easy and seamless for your end users. In addition, we will offer you several discount options for a year starting on July 1, 2022.
That I have to do?
If you want to keep your accounts and avoid service interruption, upgrade to Google Workspace before May 1, 2022. We recommend that you carefully read the transition help article, compare the available subscription options, and then decide which version of Google Workspace is better for your organization. So it goes like this:
Go to the Administration Console.
Select the new subscription.
Enter your payment information.
You can use the new Google Workspace subscription and its features for free until at least July 1, 2022.
If you don’t upgrade by May 1, 2022, we’ll automatically transition your organization to a new Google Workspace subscription without service interruption. The plan will depend on the services you are currently using with your old free version of G Suite.
If you do not provide payment information by July 1, 2022, your subscription will be suspended.
Don’t want to upgrade to a Google Workspace subscription because you no longer need the relevant services? You can then export your organization’s data.
