1. What do you want to use your laptop for? Commercial or private use?
Games and school.
1.1. Do you want to use primarily mobile or stationary laptop? How mobile should the laptop be? Should it be a 2-in-1 laptop / convertible?
Mobile but also stationary, it doesn’t have to be a convertible, this is my current one and I don’t use it anyway.
1.2. If you want to play: what games? What level of detail?
The level of detail as high as possible, of course, should be sufficient for future games, think about the next 5 years, currently mainly Forza Horizon 5, Wreckfest, BeamNG, etc.
1.3. Music / Image / Video Editing or CAD – Which Software? Professional or hobby?
Nothing special should be run, mainly Office and Adobe products, they ask us.
2. How big should the screen be? Would you like a touch screen or a particularly high display quality?
I don’t need a touch screen, but I want it to be at least 15 inches.
3. How long should the battery last?
More or less irrelevant.
4. What operating system do you want to use? Is there a license? Should the laptop already have an operating system pre-installed? Do you get Windows from college?
You should have Windows 10 64-bit pre-installed.
5. Do you have any wishes regarding design, quality of workmanship, material, or color?
Simple, it doesn’t necessarily have to be too flashy.
6. Are there other special requirements that were not consulted? Big hard drive? Numeric keyboard? Keyboard backlight? Pen holder? Docking via USB-C / Thunderbolt 3? CD / DVD drive? Discounts (educational)? Service and warranty? Maintenance options? SD card reader?
The 500GB hard drive space, if possible with Num-Pad, would of course be great and if I could do 1-2 updates in the future this is not a prerequisite.
7. How much money are you willing to spend? Is a used purchase an option?
Maximum 1500CHF, definitely not used.
I already looked a bit and I am with HP Omen 15 (15.60 “, AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, 16 GB, 512 GB, nVidia GeForce RTX 3060 8GB) for 1499.- and HP Victus (16.10”, Intel Core i7-11800H, 16 GB , 1000GB, nVidia GeForce RTX 3060 6GB) for 1499, what do you think of them?
Edit: Just a Lenovo, I had big warranty issues with my current one, I don’t want to have it again …
