The video game project raised $ 23 million on Kickstarter in 2020. This is the highest amount since 2015, an increase of 35% over the previous year.

Looking outside of video games, desktop games celebrated a great 2020 on Kickstarter, raising a total of $ 237 million. That’s one-third of the money raised on last year’s platform. A record number of 3,163 table game projects were funded, but 1,319 failed to reach their goals.
Kickstarter is a record year overall, raising $ 730 million in 2020 from $ 615 million in the previous year. Interestingly, that record was set for fewer projects than in 2019, hosting 37,581 campaigns in 2020 and 41,789 the previous year.
Of that total, 18,642 projects were successfully funded, with games (both video and desktop games), design and technology in the most successful categories.
