Fortnite, the successful Battle Royal, is available on many platforms. Not only can it be played on consoles and PC, but it can also be downloaded on mobile devices (Android/iOS).
For a few years now, Fortnite has supported cross-play. This feature not only suits gamers from different consoles (such as Xbox and PlayStation), but also console gamers with PC gamers.
Ever since crossplay became available, many Fortnite players have been complaining about the matchmaking system (SBMM). Apparently it unites seasoned PC gamers with casual console gamers (one, two, 3, 4, 5, 6, September).
The above was even covered here in 2019. Since then, players have been suffering from the same situation, with no sign of change from Epic Games (one, two, 3, 4, 5, 6, September, 8, 9, I said).
But, now, for the first time in years, Epic Games could consider making Fortnite cross-play an optional feature.
Forced Fortnite crossplay complaints persist to this day
Although there have been related complaints for years, Epic Games has not made any changes. So, players are suffering from the issue to this day, as recent reports indicate.
Am I the only one who found smbb to be Epic’s biggest mistake?
When did epic game think forced crossplay was a good idea? I’m PC/Switch and I just think on Switch gamers are hitting sweaters with 160-300fps on their 30fps… Crossfinger to see that shit next season and get our platforms lobby back (switch with ps4 switch with ps4 and else).
The fountain
I agree that console gamers shouldn’t be forced to play PC gamers who have an extreme advantage. I see it more with Playstation than with Xbox. I’m not trying to play FNCS, I just want to have fun with my friends. it is a big problem and needs to be addressed.

Unfair advantages of PC players over console players
Gamers consider the advantages of PC gamers over console gamers to be too many. Therefore, the system should not match players from both platforms in the same match.
When I play with my PC players on my team, we get an obscene amount of other PC players and they have a very specific goal. They are capable of building/modifying and seemingly firing everything at the same time. I have an Xbox Series X connected to the modem and I can’t get speeds that fast. PC gamers are on a different level. I’m fine with no forced crossplay.

Fortnite crossplay could be optional
Just a few days ago, Epic Games sent out a survey to Fortnite players. In it, they were asked to vote for their least favorite feature of the game, and cross-play was among the options.
It’s the first time in years that the company has hinted that it’s considering making cross-play optional. And, given the results of the test, this is now becoming a close possibility.
However, at this time, the company has not made a public statement on the matter. So all that remains is to wait and see if Epic Games will release any related updates in the coming days.
Once new developments related to forced cross-play in Fortnite emerge, we will update this article. You can also check out the Fortnite bug/issue tracker.
