How excited we were when Project Athia was first revealed in June 2020 as part of Sony’s PlayStation 5 Mega Event. An enchanting new world that not only looks stunning, but also seems to come with several innovative gameplay ideas. Only a few months later it became clear that Project Athia was actually called “Forspoken” and would be the next big fantasy action RPG from developer Luminous Productions and publisher Square Enix.
At the Game Awards in December 2021, there was a specific release date for the first time: Forspoken should appear on May 24, 2022 on both PlayStation 5 and PC. But nothing came of it. On Sony’s State of Play episode in March 2022, a cool new trailer for the game was shown, but the release was postponed at the same time. Instead of May, October 11, 2022 was in the room. More time should be spent on polishing to deliver the most optimized gaming experience possible from the start, it was said at the time.
Cyberpunk Flashback: The Third Release Date
Anyone already suspicious of evil and getting a bit of Cyberpunk 2077 Flashback is on the right track. Because today, Wednesday, July 6, 2022, it was announced that it would not be possible to keep this date in October of this year either. Instead, Forspoken is now scheduled to appear on January 14, 2023. Date number 3, and hopefully really the last.
But we can’t be too sure about that. The daily statement states that the new postponement this time is not due to the delay in development. Rather, it is a strategic decision, as there are “ongoing discussions with important partners.” It is currently unclear how long these will take to complete and what the outcome might be.
At Square Enix and Luminous Productions, open issues are currently supposed to be resolved by January 2023. The game itself is nearing completion and is in the final stages of polishing.
The full statement from those responsible:
“As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to extend the Forspoken release date to January 24, 2023. All game elements are now complete and development is in the final phase. adjustment.
We want to thank you for your continued support and patience throughout this journey. Your passion for the game inspires us every day and we can’t wait to share more about Forspoken with you this summer!”
However, in this article we explain why the Forspoken game trailer in March coincided with another postponement:
