Frontier Developments plc today unveiled the first behind-the-scenes video for F1 Managers 2022, the new officially licensed F1 management simulation game. F1 Manager 2022 will be released in Summer 2022 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam and the Epic Games Store.
F1 Manager 2022: Behind the scenes
In “Episode 1 – Be The Boss”, players are introduced to the role of the team boss, the person who is the heart of every F1 team. Team Principals are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the team, from recruiting and retaining world-class drivers and staff to developing vehicle components and setting strategies for race weekends. In F1 Manager 2022, players will make all the short and long term decisions to lead their team to glory in the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship.
David Braben, CEO and founder of Frontier, introduces the episode before handing it over to game director Andy Fletcher, who will take players through a “factory tour” of F1 Manager 2022 alongside the art director. Matt Dickinson and members of the development team.
As Formula 1 General Manager of Motorsports Ross Brawn explains, the role of team principal will provide a fascinating insight into another side of F1. Players can take control of their chosen F1 Constructor 2022 and define their own management philosophy as they seek to meet and exceed the expectations of their team’s board of directors. Team leaders must manage their budgets effectively and balance short-term gains with long-term progress. Therefore, they have to design and manufacture new components for the current car while keeping an eye on next year’s design. Investments in facilities, drivers and staff must be carefully considered if players want to put their own stamp on one of the ten official F1 teams of 2022.
Authentic gaming experience
To underscore the most accurate recreation of the sport possible, Frontier’s focus on delivering a live, broadcast-quality presentation on race weekends is spearheaded by David Croft, Senior F1 Commentator at Sky Sports, whose voice is on the game along with his commentators: colleague and former Formula 1 driver Karun Chandhok is heard. As previously announced, these aren’t the only familiar voices players will hear, as all twenty drivers from the 2022 season can be heard via an innovative team radio system and respond to commands from their race engineers. A successful team manager is expected to effectively manage tire strategy while leading the way to the podium in dramatic races that can change at any moment. Will players be the first to risk slippery tires on a fast-drying track? Or will an ill-timed safety car or red flag break expectations? By presenting a wealth of data in the session, F1 Manager 2022 gives team managers the ability to hone their strategies in the race, manipulating the pace of each driver and directing the implementation of ERS in key time windows to win those last crucial tenths.
F1 Manager 2022 will be released in Summer 2022 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam and the Epic Games Store. You can wishlist the game on PlayStation Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Future behind-the-scenes videos will give players a deeper look into the game’s development, including 3D facial scans of the drivers and the creation of custom audio profiles for each track.
