Berlin (dpa) – Team Liquid e-athletes have won the second European Challengers tournament on stage 3 of the Valorant Champions Tour. Against Giants Gaming, the team secured a 3-1 victory according to Maps (13: 5; 10:13; 13:10; 13: 6)
“It feels amazing,” Liquid pro Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen said after the final victory in the tournament. The Finnish e-athlete was particularly pleased with the successful rematch against Giants Gaming. They had previously won the direct duel between the teams in the top draw final. Liquid had to sit down and secure the final with the bottom bracket. “We were punished in the game. Today we were ready and I am happy to have won.”
Linked to the success of the tournament is qualification for the Challengers Playoffs August 12-22 for the Dutch esports organization. Here the professionals of Team Liquid were able to meet again with Giants Gaming, who are also qualified.
The same applies to the successful teams of the first European challenger: Acend, G2 Esports, Guild Esports and FunPlus Phoenix. The field of playoff participants in the EMEA region will be completed by three teams from Turkey and three teams from the CIS countries. The top four teams from the playoffs will qualify for the Berlin Masters in September.
British esports organization Fnatic is doomed to watch, and that’s after being in the final of the last Masters in Reykjavik. The loss to Liquid in the bottom draw final means third place in the Challengers, who do not qualify to participate in the playoffs.
