They receive the income of the citizens and carry out works for the common good. They are the protagonists of the “PUC”, an acronym for useful projects for the community, which started on Tuesday, November 2 in Cortona. Four people have started their daily activities, it is a concrete application of the provision of the law that aims to reintegrate the unemployed into the world of work by providing for the employment of the recipients of the Rdc with tasks of social utility.
“It is a first step towards inclusion – declares the Councilor for Social, Valeria Di Berardino – the activities that we have identified are based on the needs and requirements of the community, we have also taken into account the opportunities that respond to these needs in terms of growth of the people involved “.
The activities provided by the PUC are complementary, supportive and integrated with those usually carried out by the entity’s offices, they do not replace those externally entrusted by the Municipality (eg garbage collection) and are temporary. “They are enrichment opportunities according to the aims and objectives to be pursued – Di Berardino continues – the maintenance / environment office has expressed its willingness to welcome these people to improve the cleaning of some gardens and public spaces”.
According to the project entitled “Improvement of green areas and public services”, the tasks are: ordinary maintenance of urban and extra-urban green areas; hallway cleaning; cleaning of play areas; leaf collection and card collection The places indicated to carry out these activities are the railway underpass of Via Lauretana – Camucia, the public gardens XXV Aprile (Camucia), those of Terontola and Mercatale as well as the green areas and walkways adjacent to the Cortona escalators.
The duration of the project has been indicated in 12 months, at the moment 4 people are involved, but it will be possible to reach 10 beneficiaries.
These beneficiaries must work at least 8 hours per week according to municipal employees from Monday to Friday. According to regulations, the beneficiaries of the Rdc, for the realization of the Pucs, have taken a basic safety course (Law 81/2008) and have activated the Inail insurance, but also the Civil Liability for damages to third parties.
