Engineering company Canon is developing a new pocket-sized smartphone camera with stabilizer. The company has filed a patent for the device, according to which it appears that it will resemble the discontinued Osmo Pro from Chinese company DJI.
The site informs about the patent Canon News.
The illustrations show that the Canon product has the grip, rear screen, gimbal, controls, camera sensor, and lens mount.
There is a hot shoe on the top of the camera to attach a flash or other accessories. Nearby is a switch that can control the stabilization mode or just a latch for attaching lenses.
In addition to the large screen, which is probably designed to be touch-sensitive, the device can be controlled with a large button and a pair of joysticks. There also appears to be a trigger on the front of the grip. On most similar stabilizers, it is used to center the stabilizer or to lock the tilt. It seems that the handle can be folded for transport.
According to media reports, the portable camera will use a scroll to change the orientation from a general shot to a selfie photo and will connect to a smartphone to transmit the image to the screen.
