BlizzCon Online Overwatch 2 update announced in February

Date:

If you’re eager for Overwatch 2, you’ll have to wait a few more months as Overwatch Director Jeff Kaplan has confirmed that Overwatch 2 will be updated on BlizzCon Online in February. Developer updates Kaplan confirmed that Overwatch fans will learn more about the upcoming sequel at BlizzCon Online, which takes place February 19-20. The two-day event replaces the company’s annual BlizzCon and is usually a live fan event in Anaheim, California.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, Blizzard announced that it would skip physical events in 2020 and host an all-digital alternative in 2021. As a result of the pandemic, other conventions such as GDC and PAX have also moved online this year.Overwatch 2 is the sequel to Blizzard’s competitive PvP shooter, expanding lore and space in story-focused PvE mode. There are also new competitive maps, modes and heroes, but these additions will also appear in the first Overwatch for free.

The rest of Kaplan’s developer updates focus on a new free deathmatch map called Kanasaka. Based on Japan’s location, Kanasaka is currently a free map that can be tested with PTR. The Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2020 event is also underway and will continue until January 5th.
