With the ROG Flow X16 (GV601), ASUS has launched a new gaming convertible that can thus be used as both a laptop and a tablet. To do this, it has a 360-degree hinge to fold the screen, while also serving as a stand. Speaking of the screen: It measures 16 inches diagonally, has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (WQHD+, 16:10) and achieves a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz.
Other IPS panel features include a 3 ms (gray-to-gray) response time, 100 percent DCI-P3, multi-touch functionality, Pantone validation, Dolby Vision support, and Adaptive Sync. The higher models of the GV601 series also come with 512 mini-LED zones, 1100 cd/m² maximum brightness and FreeSync Premium Pro. Inside, a Ryzen 7 6800HS or a Ryzen 9 6900HS (8 cores, 16 threads each) , 16 or 32 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM, a 1 or 2 TB NVMe SSD (PCIe 4.0), and a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti get the job done Laptop GPU (4 GB GDDR6), GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU ( 6 GB GDDR6) or the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti (8 GB GDDR6) laptop GPU are doing their job.
Windows 10 Home is pre-installed as the operating system on the aforementioned hard drive. On the interface side, Bluetooth 5.2, HDMI 2.0b, USB-A 3.2 (Gen 2), WLAN 802.11ax, a headphone/microphone combo jack, and USB-C 3.2 (Gen 2) with DisplayPort Alternate Mode and 100 watt power supply provided. There is also a ROG XG interface for external graphics card cases. Also included are an RGB backlit keyboard, an HD webcam, a three-microphone array, four internal speakers with Dolby Atmos, and a 90Wh battery for up to 10 hours of playback time per charge.
The MUX switch should also not go unmentioned, which connects the GeForce RTX laptop’s GPU directly to the display if desired and saves the bypass through the processor’s iGPU. Depending on the manufacturer, the result can be 5 to 10 percent better performance and reduced latency. Like the evidence of colleagues from Computer Base show, depending on the game and the resolution, the additional performance may even be significantly higher, or less than 5 percent.
