Technology giants headquartered in Cupertino, Calif., expect to ship 80 million next-generation iPhones by 2020. Those who were asked to talk about products that Apple hasn’t announced in October will release four new models with fifth-generation wireless speeds, different designs, and wider screen sizes, said people.

Apple and its manufacturing partners are constantly increasing production each fall, prior to rolling out a new iPhone. In the summer of 2019, the supplier was preparing to create components for 75 million handsets. The 2018 goals were similar, so this year’s target of 75-80 million is a sign of bullishness. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., a key assembly partner also known as Foxconn, last month notified WeChat of some recruiters for the iPhone main campus in Zhengzhou, central China.

The Covid-19 outbreak has hurt the global economy and disrupted supply chains, but Apple sees strong demand for iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers from people working and studying in remote areas .. Earnings from the iPhone shattered Wall Street’s expectations in the last quarter. The device still makes up almost half of Apple’s revenue, often over 60% during the holiday season. Apple stock surged 76% this year, surpassing $2 trillion in market value for the first time in the United States.

For the first time, the four new phones have been split into two basic models and two high-end models, all featuring OLED displays with improved color and sharpness. All new smartphones will have an updated design with square edges, similar to the iPad Pro, and high-end phones will continue to use stainless steel edges instead of aluminum sides in the cheaper variants. Some Apple employees testing new devices believe the new 6.7-inch screen is one of the most notable improvements this year, people familiar with the situation said. Several testers also found that some of the current 5G networks did not improve connection speeds significantly, people added.

According to people familiar with the occasional release strategy, Apple plans to ship low-end phones faster than Pro devices. At a recent conference call, Apple said the new iPhone will ship “several weeks” later than last year’s model, which began shipping on September 20th. 2017.

The design and many features of this year’s iPhone were completed before the Covid-19 became popular, but the pandemic caused problems with final testing, delaying the start of production for a few weeks. The first HomePods were praised for their audio quality, but consumers panned for their limited Siri features and price. Earlier this year, Apple integrated some of its engineering teams for Apple TV and HomePod as it seeks to refocus its focus on consumer devices.

Apple is also developing a new Apple TV box with a faster processor for game improvements and remote control upgrades, but those familiar with the development said the device may not ship until next year. There is a possibility. The company is working on a new remote control feature similar to Find My iPhone, making it easier to find TV accessories.
