Apple and Mercedes-Benz are working together: By integrating Apple’s “Spatial Audio” technology, cars will become concert halls.
The American technology group Apple and the German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz enter into a joint cooperation. Both companies announced it this past weekend. Going forward, Apple Music’s “spatial audio” with Dolby Atmos support will ensure a high-quality sound experience in the automaker’s luxury models.
“3D Audio is revolutionizing the way artists make music and the way fans listen to music. […]. Together with Mercedes-Benz, we now have even more opportunities to offer our subscribers around the world a completely new music experience,” said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music.
Markus Schäfer, Chief Technology Officer of the Mercedes-Benz Group AG, is also impressed by the collaboration, which is unique in the world:
“We are proud that our vehicles are the first non-Apple devices to feature immersive 3D audio with Dolby Atmos. This seamless experience shows how the seamless integration of hardware and software can take in-car entertainment to new heights.” .
More models will be added in the future.
Apple Music with 3D Audio is fully integrated into the MBUX infotainment system in Mercedes-Maybach EQS and EQS SUV models, as well as EQE and S-Class.
Drivers who are already subscribed to Apple Music will have instant access to a growing number of songs and albums in 3D audio, according to Apple. In addition, there will be playlists specially created for driving, such as “Driving in 3D Audio”.
