Amazon to discontinue Prime service in 2023: Alternative is missing a popular feature
With Amazon Drive, users can store their data in a cloud, not just photos and videos, like with the Amazon Photos service, other common file types can also be stored there. Or could. Because the driving service will be discontinued soon, like this. Digital-Giant announced now.
This should cause some customers to burp, after all, Amazon recently increased Prime membership prices. Amazon justified the decision in a question and answer session on the website: “We took the opportunity to further focus our efforts on Amazon Photos to offer our customers a special solution for storing photos and videos.”
Amazon Prime: Drive is shutting down: Users need an alternative for data
In plain English, this means that if you’ve only uploaded photos and videos, you can switch to Amazon Photos without a problem. However, anyone who has saved other files (eg documents) to Drive should look into an alternative soon. However, users still have some time to save the collected data.
According to Amazon, it will no longer be possible to upload files from January 31, 2023, but the files stored there will be preserved for the time being. Amazon finally removed the Prime Drive service on December 31, 2023. By then, everyone should have saved their data, otherwise the group will remove it after explicit notification. App users will no longer have access to the platform through the app as of October 31.
Amazon Photos: Free version users have to limit
Amazon customers can still enjoy a service: Images and videos stored in Drive are automatically saved to Photos, the company says. Just like the driving service, the photo service is available in a paid and free version.
However, if you don’t want to spend money on Amazon Photos, you should limit yourself: only 5GB is available to users. Prime members have unlimited storage.
after the Amazon Department Store Plans and the Prime delivery service canceled the company announced the next change with the closure of the streaming service. At least so far, it doesn’t seem to bother customers.
