Also show speed limit on google maps – it’s so fast update feature

Date:

Of course, to activate the function you need Google Maps itself, ideally in the last version. In principle, the trick also works with other navigation apps. You can also download the free app for Android velociraptor download it and start it.

Now follow the instructions displayed in the app.

  1. Enable app permission for screen overlay. The app will take you to the corresponding settings page.
  2. Give the app permission to determine location.
  3. In order for the overlay to open automatically when you start a navigation application, you must finally activate the accessibility service.
If you’ve followed the steps in the app, you’ll now see your current speed based on GPS data and the maximum allowed speed on Google Maps. You can customize the icons and hide them if you want. The application obtains the data of the maximum speeds allowed through the map service OpenStreetMap. TomTom Maps and HERE Maps services can also be subscribed for around one euro per month.

However, you should be aware that navigation apps consume a lot of power: an additional app that constantly measures your speed via GPS consumes even more battery power. So you should always have a power bank for your smartphone or a car adapter to charge your cell phone in the car.
