Nvidia has released the first 4320p or 8K benchmarks run on a Geforce RTX 4090. For games like Red Dead Redemption 2, that can mean the difference between 30fps and 60+fps. Whether it’s worth it is a matter of taste.
Nvidia has provided a few more official benchmarks, done in 4320p, or more commonly 8K. As always, these should be treated with a bit of caution as they won’t be bad, but they should of course make the product look good. The actual message of the bars is also: if you want to play 8K with at least 60fps, you will rarely go past DLSS (3).
Some games like Apex Legends, Forza Horizon and Lost Ark throttle the Geforce RTX 4090 to 60fps or more even without DLSS. For notorious candidates like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Microsoft Flight Simulator you have to use Deep Learning Super Sampling and then you get a decent 85fps in the case of Red Dead Redemption 2 and 83fps in the case of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Both games are in the 30fps range without DLSS.

As usual with DLSS in all its forms, you’re trading refresh rate for image quality. What is most important to you is up to you. Even if the results with DLSS are good, purists will always prefer a natively computed image. In particular, since DLSS 3 uses a frame generator that injects AI-calculated intermediate images into the signal to achieve high frame rates.
