Microsoft is preparing to release Windows 11 22H2 (22621); preparation for 22623 will start soon

Date:

Until now, the official start of 09/20/22 remained speculative. But it seems that the date will remain. Because Microsoft has already shipped Windows 11 22H2 to the servers as an ISO. Until now we only had the ISO with “Insider” in the name of Microsoft.

But that didn’t matter. Because this addition could be previously ignored. Because even hardware manufacturers have already shipped Windows 11 22H2 devices. A few days ago we received a request on Facebook asking if that was correct. There was the 22621.382 that was installed. Probably due to the security update. KB5016632 updated in August. Or so delivered, since these was declared as GA. we are currently with it September security update at 22621.521.

As you can see in the image, the ISOs are for one On-site update (21H2 to 22H2), or a new installation already on Microsoft servers.

We are also about to change Windows 11 22H2 Beta. The 22622 is currently being tested there. Previously described as a craft version, this will be the first update (moment 1) Act. This should be near the end of development. It should be distributed by the end of this year. Then we continue with a new enablement package (KB5018863) with Windows 11 22H2 22623. It should be released next year.

So it looks like the 228xx and the 229xx, as described here they were just internal designations.

Then Microsoft continues here as we know it from Windows 10, with the small update as an enablement package to unlock new features that are already built in and only increase the version number by 1.

To remember:

  • Windows 11 22H2 (22621) will probably be officially unveiled next week.
  • Windows 11 22H2 (22622) will be released later this year as an “update”. And KB5015684 activates the new features
  • Windows 11 22H2 (22623) will arrive again next year as an “update”. Here will be KB5018863 which activates the new features. It will probably start testing in the beta channel soon.
