  • The murderous fairy tale “Assassin’s Creed” is one of the largest and most valuable brands of the Ubisoft publisher.
  • At the online event of the Forward company, the future of the series was presented, which includes several games, but also a core online series.
  • It goes to Baghdad, Japan, China, and the era of witch hunts.

In the online program Forward, the publisher Ubisoft provided detailed information on the current developments and future prospects of the popular “Assassin’s Creed” series, which is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary. Much was confirmed to have already been leaked across the web the week before.

Not this year, but probably in early 2023 “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” should appear, which was officially announced in the run-up to Ubisoft Forward after several leaks forced Ubisoft to act.

Concrete details followed: it all revolves around street thief Basim Ibn Is’haq, who joins the “Hidden Ones” in burgeoning 9th-century Baghdad, later known as the Assassins. His mentor, Roshan, helps him rise to the rank of Master Assassin and fight against the Order of Elders, which becomes the Templars.

The gameplay returns to the roots of the series. Instead of raw action and a rush of role-playing elements, the focus should be back on climbing and sneaking, as well as killing from an ambush. Thanks to a new mechanic, Basim can even “mark” multiple targets and then turn them off at once.

Despite all the freedom of action, the title must follow a solid and linear story. Good news for owners of the previous generation of consoles: in addition to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the predecessors PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are also being considered. Those who pre-order the standard, deluxe or collector’s edition will also get the DLC “The Forty Thieves Quest”, a tribute to the fairy tale “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves”.

Before that, players of the current “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla” will get supplies: “The Last Chapter” will be released as free DLC later this year and will bring Eivor’s story to a grand conclusion.

The Future: Project Red, Jade and Witch

Work is also underway on the penultimate “Assassin’s Creed” adventure, which fulfills a long-cherished wish of the community: “Codename Red” takes place in feudal Japan. A short teaser shows a ninja on a roof.

Whatever the name of the game: “Assassin’s Creed” is now also dedicated to the legendary assassins of the Far East. The title, which is based on the more open world RPG predecessors “Origins”, “Odyssey” and Valhalla, could launch in 2024.

“Codename Jade” also hijacked in the Far East. Behind it is a mobile game that promises a real and complete “Assassin’s Creed” experience on smartphones and tablets, despite the touch controls. After “AC Chronicles” we go back to China, this time to the year 215 BC For the first time in the history of the series, it will be possible to create your own assassin. A version of 2024 is considered safe.

Particularly exciting: “Codename Witch.” In the first teaser you can hear terrifying music and see a tracking shot through a dark forest, ending with a rune made of sticks hanging from a tree.

Reminiscences of the movie “Blair Witch Project” are awake… All that is known so far is that the witch project should feel “completely different” from previous games in the “AC” series. If you believe the rumours, the game won’t be released until 2026.

“Assassin’s Creed Infinity” is not a game, but a platform that Ubisoft describes as a “personal animus” and is intended to provide access to all past and future eras. Multiplayer content is also being experimented with to connect all players.

In addition to merchandise like books and statues, there was brief mention of the live-action series “Assassin’s Creed,” which will screen on Netflix, flanked by a Netflix-exclusive mobile game. The documentary “Beyond the Creed” is dedicated to the 15-year history of the series and can be viewed on Ubisoft’s YouTube channels.

However, there was no information at Ubisoft Forward about the “Assassin’s Creed Nexus” VR game or a possible remake of the first game in the series.
