Pixel users and also owners of all the others Android smartphones Please be patient this month, because for unknown reasons, there will be significant delays to all update channels in August. Google hasn’t decided on a date yet, but it can be hoped that things can finally go ahead tonight: the update rollout, Google’s system update, and also the Android 13 rollout could all take place tonight.c
For unknown reasons, many Android updates will be delayed this month, which should particularly upset Pixel smartphone users. We already have all the delayed updates in this article summed up and it can be assumed that Google wants to have everything under control this month. For this reason, it is very likely that the update fireworks can finally light up tonight.
Android updates for Pixel smartphones
Actually, the Android security update and the Pixel update should have been released on August 1, but that didn’t happen. Just three days later, Google spoke in an ancillary clause, announcing that the updates had been postponed to “later this month.” In the context of Pixel smartphones, that usually means a two-week delay, and that would be today.
I strongly believe that there will be a major update for Pixel smartphones tonight. It’s possible to leave something out and continue to work on issues that haven’t been announced yet, but basically there should be a major update. And then we’ll also find out if the separate Pixel 6 update with the GPS fix that was rolled out a few days ago is still causing issues.
Google system update
It’s never been too late to start since Google System Updates rolled out, but that should be over soon, too. The first and perhaps only system update for all Android smartphones should be released this afternoon or tomorrow at the latest. As the update does not have a fixed cycle and the content is not announced in advance, you can filter well here and only update the components with which there are no problems.
android 13
Android 13 was almost certainly on the roadmap for August 1 and then not released anytime soon. We now know that it will roll out to Pixel smartphones with a patch level of September 1. A release two weeks early wouldn’t be much of a surprise and it’s already happened in the last year in form. So, I guess Android 13 will also be released tonight, but it won’t be rolled out to smartphones yet.
Which Pixel phones will get the update?
The security update will roll out to all 4th to 6th generation Pixel smartphones. The Pixel 3a was released in May 2019 and thus hasn’t been supported since May 2022. However, Google announced in May that it would add a final update in July. But July ended and the update didn’t come, so it was probably pushed back to August and now it’s almost until September. But after that, it’s really over…
