Today, Misfits Gaming Group (MGG) announced that Team Heretics has purchased the Misfits Gaming LEC slot. The transaction will be effective for the 2023 season, with MGG remaining a minority partner with the team going forward. The move also means that MGG will withdraw from the LFL at the end of the 2022 season, according to the MGG press release.
For MGG, the move is another step in a broader strategy to increase its focus on nurturing creative talent as well as building competitive teams. MGG is increasingly partnering with the best creators in the gaming and streaming communities, collaborating with them to create projects that matter to them.
The most recent example of this is the upcoming launch (in August 2022) of TubNet, a new cross-platform Minecraft server launched by MGG and popular Minecraft streamer and content creator ‘Tubbo’. Check out the trailer just released at TwitchCon here:
MGG will appear in both Activision-Blizzard’s Overwatch League (Florida Mayhem) and Activision-Blizzard’s Call of Duty League (Florida Mutineers), while maintaining his presence in Riot Games’ VALORANT.

Spain’s Heretics, who will be new to the LEC starting in 2023, have already released a video, including an atmospheric trailer, about their promotion to the top European League of Legends division. Unfortunately, the following conversation is only available in Spanish at this time.
LEC welcomes newcomer
Not only many active LEC teams, but also LoL Esports staff welcome Team Heretics to the ranks of the best European teams in League of Legends esports. The statement from those responsible for Riot Games says:
