Bring nuclear power plant runtime extension and speed limit

With gas shortages looming next winter, not a day goes by without new savings suggestions. From less heating to the dispute over coal and nuclear power, everything is on the table. Even the speed limit is being debated again.
The stoplight parties retreat to their respective trenches over the issues of speed limits and nuclear power plant runtime extensions. It is time for a coalition agreement. Because both are important for security of supply.
northit is also not predictable how bad it will be. One thing is clear: the signs for the fall and winter point to a crisis. In case of doubt, no one will be able to avoid gasoline shortages. Politically, it is now about avoiding as much damage as possible from Germany. Everyone has to make a contribution, individuals as well as politics and business.
But instead of setting a good example, the stoplight parties and their social camps retreat to their respective trenches when it comes to speed limits and nuclear power plant runtime extensions. And they accuse themselves of the same fact: For purely ideological reasons, they stick to old principles!
The result: the almost unbearable exchange of always the same arguments. A speed limit not only increases road safety, it also saves energy, say environmentalists. The liberal camp, on the other hand, warns against undermining freedom; after all, freedom also means being able to make unreasonable decisions.
When it comes to nuclear power, on the other hand, the argument in favor is that a lifespan extension would reduce reliance on gas, which is also used to generate electricity in Germany. The opposite answer is to be expected: nuclear waste and security concerns.
Time is running out and Germany is making no progress on the question of how to mitigate the possible consequences of a gas shortage. Instead, the Greens and the FDP in particular continue to revolve around one question: How should they teach their supporters that they might be relinquishing a central position that creates their identity?
The answer would be so simple and the obvious solution: to be able to advertise success in return. So how about this? The Greens get the speed limit and the Liberals get the life extension of nuclear power plants in return. Two security-of-supply benefits, plus a desirable side effect: the government is showing how cooperation works.
